The way to make sure you get the original is to ensure that they are supplied directly from Shimano. PowerPro is now part of the Shimano group. It was applied in saltwater trolling lures especially Yozuri Bonita lures which came with double hooked, anglers notice the fish always thrown the hooked so they add heavy duty swivel to it and change to single hooked, surprisingly it works well then later applied to light lures as well. Last Philippine trip i bring back a box of forged eyes mustad hook for capt but all with long shank body not suitable for lures, aiya ask capt to bring in somemore OWNER type lah, 3-4 dollar only, last time got one school no high KB guy sabor all, till now CFFS never order anymore (maybe capt don't even know he have it b4), Good 4u at least have some fun yesterday, pocket stop bleeding oledi? how serious is it?...hehehe |

The last 2 trips to MPR, I landed a lot more fish than the Karate King. As for expensive lures, if you do your homework properly before casting like check drag, good knots,etc, you would not lose them. But last weekend, I just didn't check the drag. Mostly because I was laughing too much from the Karate King not able to handle 6lb lines. BTW, I landed the first Barra using a $2 squid fly and the last Barra was landed using $1.50each Storm softbait (Pack of 4 for $6). I wouldn't call these expensive, would you? |

When a jumping Barra falls back into the water, it does not take that much to break a 8lb line. I challenge you along with Upin and Ipin to a test. To simulate jumping, we will drop a 1kg fish(or a lead weight) tied to an 8lb line on a 1500reel. This will confirm who is right. |

As for line snap we are using 4-6lb mono, u many talk but using 8lb braided, friend, what's the max drag for 1000 reel huh? no skill said no skill lah.....our judge UPIN and IPIN say betul betul betul.....hahaha |

He blamed it on the 6lb line but we kacau that it is probably not the line but the skill. Anyway, at the end of the "competition", I was disqualified by the king otherwise I caught the biggest fish (1.6Kg) that day. I was disqualified because one of the 3 fish I caught were caught on natural bait. He said only artificial allowed. Since all 3 fish were in the same basket, we cannot tell exactly which fish is the one. Hence, I cannot join the competition. The next biggest fish was 1.4Kg so I guess that won the competition. There is a lesson to be learned. I lost 2 fish and 2 of my favourite Jackson lures that day. My 8lb line brought when the fish jumped. Only after losing the 2nd fish that I checked my drag. It was set on full. Earlier the lure snagged the bottom so I set the drag on max to free it. I forgot to set it back to match the 8lb line. The lesson...always remember to check the drag setting on your reel. |
