| Title: Merin Fish Date: 2010-08-07 GMT: 06:34:41 To: Capt Fred Ya, because u don't listen to me buy a good protein skimmer instead buy el-cheapo one, when i keep marine fish that time all fish and coral from Rusukan besar island , starting using marine salt also but after that change to beach water only , all fishes last till i go travelling nobody take care coral died toxic spread kill all fishes. Richard also the same case, first time running his seafood restaurent all fish/lobsters bought from sangka or jerudong survived for 3 days only, now u ever seen his fish die?? No, cos he listen to us build a good system and ofcourse he dare to spend that money. Take a look at KK Asian city foodcourt, guess you've been there b4 but do u ever notice how people keep their fish alive? What type of filtration system they're using? Aiya one word biological system good your fish survive, i visited few tiger prawn and fish farm locally (due to work) and abroad (M'sia, Thailand, Taiwan) i know what i'm talking about. Actually there are some chemical can easily change stingky water to crystal clear without killing the fish inside, don't believe me, go biotropical buy it, mr. ricky will teach u how to use it for your pond. It's been successfully tested in lot's of koi pond. |

| Title: Merin Fish Date: 2010-08-07 GMT: 03:28:47 To: Lures I don't like to sound like I am taking GP side but I think a bit of clarification is in order. The CFFS aquarium salt water were from marine salt specially made for aquarium. The marine salt and Clown fish(Nemo) were purchased from a shop along Jalan Tutong. We had 2 tanks. The lower tank, we originally put some marine fish we caught off Muara. Somehow this tank with locally caught fish always becomes diseased and all the fish in that tank dies. What we needed was a quarantine tank. The upper tank we kept only 3 nemos which it low population is probably why the fish in this upper tank were healthy. |

| Title: Merin Fish Date: 2010-08-07 GMT: 00:01:00 To: Gila Pancing Funny CFFS water all from serasa where Apollo anchored, fish never die, my conclusion 4u, good filter system plus healthy fish when buy or catch. When u talk about saltwater "protein skimmer" is a MUST, if not your fish sure die. Not against u, all u talk i understand but guess u never visit fish farm b4, they all pump water from rivers or near shore only but with good filtration system, they even have spare pond for recycling waters just like JKR, try visit tiger prawn farm u gotta know how people operate. |

U put in aquarium or pond? if aquarium better use protein skimmer. |

| Title: Fishing Mag Date: 2010-08-04 GMT: 00:35:16 To: Capt Fred No problem. As for lures colour anything can do but not longer than 3 inch in length. Redhead proven colour, i'm using dark purple last weekend. If morning 10-1130am best for casting (they open 1015am), evening 5-7pm, after 7pm popper work as well, actually same offshore fishing lah. The crew there told my daughter they released 5 nos 5kg barra inside, nobody land them yet, hope you're the lucky one....haha. Morning better cast cos' we can try difference colour lures, night falls only bright colours works well and a lot of bottom anglers using live prawn will affect catches, last week when we keep landing fish (casting we occupied car park side opposite pondok) one of the school no high bottom anglers came over cast out his live prawn with float then walked back to pondok tunggu langsak jatuh,!@#$% that kid once we cast sure cross line, so we moved to other side........luck still with us other caster landing fish again, kid came again till one of the malay anglers XXXX him then he moved back to pondok. |

Another surprise i bought 2 of Edmond lures which copy Deka and Yo-zuri both swim well at high speed (can't compare with ori but 60-70% similarity action, downside was low speed a bit dull) , the only failure was the hooks need to be replace, all 4 barra that i lost due to trible hooks opened up. |

| Title: Fishing Report Sunday 25 July, 2010 Date: 2010-07-26 GMT: 01:21:06 To: As we sped out from Serasa towards the cut, the engine suddenly died when we going near top speed. I check the fuel and tried cranking the engine. It wouldn't start. Capt Nonoy called the crew at Apollo for help. After waiting for another 10 mins, I cranked the engine again. It fired up and sounded normal. I tested driving around and it was ok. By then the crew arrived. I told him to standby in case we get into trouble with the engine again. With that, we set off for the reefs. I decided not to go too far out as the engine is not its normal self. The sea was rough with occasional big swell reaching to over 2meters. Probably a result of the recent typhoon up North. The wind was light. We had to travel slow at 30kph. Going any faster would make us go airborne and land with a bone shaking thud. With the engine trouble and the crawling speed, we finally arrived at the fishing ground around 10am. It was a reef I usually bypassed as it was too near from shore and probably have too much fishing pressure. Given the engine situation, it is probably the best thing to do. There fishing was quite good and we had plenty of action. Averaging 1 fish per drop. Not bad but the fish were not that big. I had to release quite a number of small groupers. We had a few big strikes but unfortunately the lines broke. I believe it was Barrucuda or Tengirri from the way it fought. By noon the wind picked up and was blowing strong. We already have a decent catch. We decided to try fishing the government reefs not far off in shallower waters. We got to one near the Bolkiah wreck shortly. The reef looks smaller than I remembered it. The concrete reef could be crumbling. And with the big hooks we were using, we only get a lot of nibbles but nothing caught. Capt Nonoy got one Pisang-pisang that somehow managed to get hooked on. With the poor result, we moved on to the next government reef. Again the same result. We tried one last reef after that. It too was also the same. As it was getting too difficult to position the boat and fish with the wind blowing so hard, we decided to call it a day and head home. As we got into the calm waters of the harbour, I sped up and suddenly the engine went dead. Same like what happened earlier in the morning. It happened a few more times. I think there must be some problem with the fuel pump but it means I need to call the engine doctor. |

| Title: New Technology Fishfinder Date: 2010-07-16 GMT: 00:22:52 To: Pierce Actually, it is not just a leak, it is a lot more serious. One of the piston's con-rod bearing fail and so one cylinder is gone. The engine has very little power and makes a lot of noise. As the engine is a little old, it is difficult to find parts. We have decided to have it replaced with a newer engine. We have ordered the engine but it will take time to arrive and install. |

| Title: New Technology Fishfinder Date: 2010-07-14 GMT: 07:24:57 To: I have high end fishfinders on the Apollo but I have been using my reliable old Garmin 160 fishfinder for years on my Boston Whaler. Last weekend, I spend the morning installing my new Humminbird 898 color fishfinder with side imagin in 3D. I took the opportunity to rewire the bilge pump and removed as many unused old wire as possible. With the help of the Apollo crew, I got transducer,GPS antenna and it all ready in a few hours. I tested it later that late afternoon. It worked great and the 3D color opened a new dimension to how one would find fish. The bottom of the sea at Serasa is little flat so I did not see any significant display. That would have to wait till I go out to the reefs. |

You have the Venetian Hotel and casino with its indoor canal complete with gondolas with plenty of shopping and of course its casino like VenThere is MGM, Wynns, Lisboa, etc. So where to find time for fishing? Well, I did not go fishing in Macau but I visited a tackle shop. Quite interesting but most of fishing tackle sold are similar to those sold in our area. This shop sells mostly Japanese fishing tackle. One interesting difference is that this shop sells only quality rods in transparent boxes. No cheapos. I think Lures friend GP will be disappointed. |

| Title: Jigging Master Shop Date: 2010-06-07 GMT: 16:13:03 To: Capt Fred Capt, ISO fishing very popular there lah, more than offshore and fresh water anglers, how u find Etuoh they got about 30 shops all over Taiwan, u may ask japan catalog from them for free , they are sole distributor of Daiwa, gamakatsu and etc.....they do have factory at their HQ "PEI TOU". AG, did u meet up with Tang, Liu or Liu girlfriend mei mei? Don't mention Cheng they wouldn't know they used to called me "cha tui" b4. Another 2 potential shop u should dropby, JOY OCEAN -(02)-2816-3200 and Huang Yeah (02)-27058781, ask the driver talk n find them. Looking for Lures should go to SIN LAN SZE JEA (new blue world - direct translation), behind JIG ACE only, their lures and prices sure make your eyes open big big, from AG about 35min driving. |

| Title: Jigging Master Shop Date: 2010-06-07 GMT: 13:40:03 To: Since I am in Taipei, it is only right to visit the Jigging Master shop there. It is quite easy to get to as it is just a short walk from the MRT station. What is nice is that there is another fishing shop just right next to it. The Etouh fishing tackle shop is actually quite interesting. It primarily target freshwater pond fishing customers but they have some saltwater gear too. AG Jigging Master shop is interesting too and it also carries a good range of float, etc for freshwater pond fishing. |
