Deep Sea Fishing, Day Time Meet Ghost, translate from Chinese. Heard motor bike spinning tyres sound, weird ancient people sword fighting sound. All anglers look around thinking may be got nearby ship making repair, but look all direction but no other boat to be found. Vetern all keep quiet & ask skipper go back to port straight away, but a rookie keep on asking "Why go back? No fish not siok yet." Suppose to be an overnight trip, but no one dare to spend a night after all these weird things happen.

That's normal, always tongkang or other bigger ship accident, cos they used auto pilot at night, so don't fish at commercial boat highway at night.

Strait of Malacca do always happened cos' the best takat (deep trench) at highway.

From Chinese newspaper today. Group of anglers went out Miri for a night trip fishing. During night time heard hitting metal sound & other weird stuff. Group ask skipper to go back straight, all foods were left uneaten. Only one rookie keep on asking y turn back, no catch fish yet. All were quiet, only landed then the rookie was told what happen during the night.

Got invited by Capt once again to relax out in the sea for fun and fishing. Despite only having slept at 5am, got up at nearly 8am when Capt called and text me. Got everything in a hurry into my car and met up at yacht club. After getting everything ready, we decide to launch down at 9am.

First stop was ofcourse Pelong rocks area where it is a very good spot for light casting. Capt was trying out his spinning bait to try attract the fishes due to the spinners shiny action. I was on my 40gm Dangan jig. A few splashes around but no bite and i was joking around with Capt about Mr Lures putting his karate king curse on us. Despite not much todaks around, we manage to missed a few strikes and also witness a few big splashes look to be like tenggiri, baracudda or Todak. Upon approaching near the splashes, the fish didnt wanna take either lures of ours.

Heading to Capt private reef, on our first drop we manage to have double hook ups with two groupers each on that single drop. It was almost one drop one fish and the sizes was good using light tackle. I even had a good fight on my 20lb rod with sienna 4000fb hooking up a krisi bali at more then 1kg. Capt also manage to hook up a grouper at the same weight and size. Thats when we realise that our lures curses didnt work and we were laughing away. Capt told me when always mr lures around, he always get baby fish. hahhaha. Guess this time it was a different story. Overall, good catch, fun time.. thats what really counts.

Capt, Wheres the pic? Lets Show mr Lures our evidence...

Please post your version. Especially on how Lures forgot to baca baca which is why we got a good catch. He is also very quiet on this forum. I know he is fuming because his new 3.5G broadband is still not working after registration almost a week ago.

(Edited 2009-3-10:) We had to delay the departure due to heavy rain in the morning. Got some bait from the fishmonger at Serasa beach. Not the best choice of bait as there were only small Selar available. Well, Selar it has to be or we won't have any bait.

We set off right after the rain stops and the sea was wonderfully calm. Our first stop was of course Pelong to do some warm up light tackle casting. The water was clear and the temp was slightly colder than the previous trip at 28.3 deg C. I try out a big spinner but there were no takers. Akudou too did not get any strikes with his Dangan. It was after that we saw some splashes out in deeper water that we sped over and was rewarded by strikes. However, we were unable to have any solid hookup and each time the hook was thrown.

We decided to do some bottomfishing. We stopped at a secret spot on the way to the trench. As soon as we were over the reef, it was a one hook one fish and a double hookup for both of us. It was groupers. We drifted a second time and was rewarded with another grouper but a boat came nearby. We quickly left that spot as we do not want our secret spot marked by others.

Next stop was dissapointing. The fishfinder was showing a big school of fish at 150-200ft depth (usually hairtail). We drift fish and jigged at the trench for the next 30mins without a single bite. None of the other boats around got any bite too.

Akudou got impatient and ask me to move on to do more bottomfishing. We could quickly go from reefs to reefs as the sea was relatively calm. We caught all kind of fish including Kerisi and Tengirri. Both of us caught Tengirri and brought it right next to the boat before it threw the hook. After that Akudou suffered many cut lines due to the Tengirri school. We fish kamikaze style. I.e. without wire leaders. Time flew by quickly but we had to be back at the Yacht club by 6pm so we did not get a chance to cast Pelong at dusk as planned.
