i knw la your rodiocraft can cast far even without big effort. With trees around shouldnt be a problem to cast wiv rodiocraft. How to get rid of waterlily? Swim to get it? Which snap swivel you use? Berkley is it? Last time i use, u say no good..bt now u see the convenience of it too i guess

Mata2 good spot lah, asked you to come over my place u don't want it's clear , easy to walk , less mosquito BUT more red ants....haha, next time go my place remember to bring parang clear out some grasses for better casting. Btw, from other bank better view and lots of places to cast, it's 5 times bigger than where you stand and lots of dalak splashing water just they lost appetite only.

After coffee we headed to the other side of the pond, ah soon these people clear 4 path for casting, HL occupied the best spot which can walk out far, first cast whack already, he landed 2 dalak today, ah man try from other path but droped into the water luckly not too deep, me and ah soon got whack also but missed (the place we stand can cast lure n spinner). Allu boat for that ground a bit troublesome, porta boat the best, an man plan to try his allu boat there.

Tomans and dalaks really running very low now. If available also small in size, so was thinking of cutting down the hunt for these species. Bad weather too as i plan to head out to the rocks of muara to do light casting and popping. So saltwater also almost impossible. Next species to search for is the barramundi which is very difficult as only a few spots are available and i've been searching for the species for nearly 4 months now. So capt, always remember to bring ur rod n reel on saturday afternoon or sunday. Then can give me a call n we go do c&r casting

Btw after mata2, aircon chong brought me to lambak. Just as i thought, it is the place near to my house. One missed strike wiv a frog from his friend. Using a spinner, i landed 1 small dalak which i gladly released. Thought frm am till pm casting gonna karate and at last i didnt..hehe. Morning already tried batu marang but tide was low so bait n lures didnt strike anything. At matamata, a friend of mine whose a newbie 1 cast lost 1 frog. Haha, now he owe me 2 frog. Da 3rd frog he used manage a strike but guess he didnt jerk his rod hard enough to set da hook in. I also had a miss strike as i reel my frog in just as the dalak was jumping to grab it. Must find more spots now! I have 5 dalaks at home which i want to release..

well, dat was the old me whn i took nervy chances despite the off season for saltwater fishing. So during the off season i have adapat to freshwater now thru a few anglers like chong, lures n yourself that freshwater lure fishing is challenging as skills and knowledge is very important rather than luck. Furthermore getting a few serious toys definitely brought in more fun to it.

Looks like you are a serious convert. I remember you did not like freshwater fishing and even when many people invite you to join in freshwater fishing, you prefer to stick to fishing out at sea.
Welcome to the freshwater fishing club.

Survey lambak area after doing casting near my place. Was looking for the place where air-con chong was talking about near berakas camp. The last simpang before the camp is the simpang to perpindahan lambak kiri. Spotted the construction site and saw water opposite of the site but sad to say its a waste dumping area..hahahaha. Went around and try looking for some sort of lake but nothing to be found. Head to the lake near my place once more but tried another route which is opposite the lake where i see construction worker always fish there when i was casting. 1 Cast and straight away got whacked by dalak.. Released it this time as aquarium is already full. Talked to the workers there and told me that it wasnt an arowana, but its koi. He claimed the biggest caught on bait and handline was 7kg. Best time to fish is early morning and 7pm to 9pm at night where the fishes are frenzy. He says theres alot of Tilapia,Koi,etc. Dalak population there running low cos he says there use to be a group of anglers there always cast the dalak before i found the place.

I wasnt the one vacuuming 9 dalaks...

I do try C&R but not at the same spot. This morning i tried out the pond near my house and hook up 2 dalaks so at the moment i have 5 dalaks which i would kindly wanna release it in a safe pond (0f cos nearby areas: bsb, etc) where it wont turn into food later or being brought back when caught. A woman working as a maid nearby the pond told me that there is one arowana more than 2kg in size. Its red in colour so i assume it might be a red arowana. Maybe super red as she says the fish looks exactly like her boss arowana he rear in his house. Figuring out what kind of lures arowana will take...

Lures, dont always assume my fish turn into food when i catch it..heheh.

Eh bro, you can ask chong la. Out of 10 catch i probadly bring 2 or 3 back only, the rest i give to chong. Tasted 1 toman and 1 dalak just for the experience in tasting it. So far i have never sold any of the catch and even if i do so, i will not be able to get a stella 2500. At the moment i have 2 toman in my aquarium, wanna see how big and how fast they grow. Hope 1 male and 1 female. hehehe...

I guess we started C&N last sunday..and its kind of fun and excitement. 2 dalak with a good size and good fight for a while is good enough. Avideo was taken, some photos as well but unfortunately Bluediver who owns the camera was run away in Philippines hehehhehe..He went back for holiday again..he told me by 26 dec. he will be fishin out at Pantambangan Dam-Large mouth bass fishing sanctuary in northern part of manila....how i wish i can join him.....Anyone interested to join SIARGAO 2 fishin competion. Budget is about 1300 brunei dollars all in....Its a good place to play marlins, dogtooth and lots of monster. This coming may or april 2009.Please let us know for reservation....
>>>>>>The fishin authority or govt department who is responsible for preserving the fish on that area should look into this CALL.....as sports anglers and ecosysytem supporters we should let them know that wonderful place is indeed can be a sanctuary for sports fishin activities....we didnt have any other visitors around that time--crocs hehehhe...and take note we have special tree climber specialist once your lure out of control and ditch into where the skies of fishin wid out water...hehehhe..

Fren, 2me ok but not everyone, sometimes they need the fish for consumption or either sale to buy new tackles (especially new fire blood owner), no force. I can only say those who willing catch n release pls do it.

Sad but true about wasan trip last sunday. Totally dissapointing as the catches wasnt that good despite us planning to do C&R. Guess we have to leave wasan for the mean time.. However i have found a few spots to do casting.. 2 of it in Tanjong Bunut and 1 of it is in Lambak very near my house.

The new reel seems to bring me luck as i manage to use it last night and manage to land 2 bulan bulan on popper. I had around like 8 missed strikes last nite. I went to mentiri to cast last night and early this morning landed 2 dalaks at the spot near my house.

Have to survey more area for freshwater casting but then i will be held up with my expo starting tomorrow. Hopefully during those periods i will have a few hours to do some casting as i will be busy from 24th dec to 4 january.

To:
It was only about 2 weeks ago that we went to the Wasan reservoir lake to cast for Dalak and Toman. We had a good catch then. Yesterday, the story was quite different. I have admit defeat and apply for membership with the Chairman of the Karate Club, Mr.Orochimaru. Of course our chairman did not fail his title. He of course Karate. out of the 6 of us in 2 boats, 5 karate (local slang for skunked, no fish). Actually I got three strikes but failed to hook up the fish and the Chairman also have some misses.

In the last month or so, the fishing pressure in this lake was tremendous. This is especially so after many reports of good catches. All along the shoreline, you have land based fishermen going all out for Toman and Dalak. There were also lots of boats. Many had longlines stretched across branches. Others had bottles with hook and bait floating all over the lake. Then there is us sportfishermen with out casting machine.

On average each boat lands 10fish per trip. The longline comes back with 30-50fish per collection. Do this week after week, the fish stock would surely be depleted. Ok, not really wiped out but stock is low. The good news is that sportfishermen like us will go away because of "karate" and give the fish stock a better chance of recovery.

To help preserve the stock, both my boats have a catch and release policy. Ricksters must be credited for releasing his catch. And for the rest of the guys from the karate club. No need to release because no fish to release. Haha.
